Plant Care Tips & Plant Passporting

AFTERCARE

We always suggest planting Plugs in a 9cm pot for a couple of weeks to develop roots further and harden off depending on the time of year.

Our Plants are all grown under ventilated cover all year. Whilst this isn’t necessary temperature wise over the warmer months we do so to protect from extremes in weather, especially rainfall!

Watering the Plant when planted in position is essential as insufficient watering is the biggest killer of new Plants! Give them plenty and often.

Feeding is important but there is food in the compost when you receive the new Plants and so you will only really need to feed them once they are established after a few weeks in the ground or in bigger pots, if potted on.

Plant Passport

Dartana Plants are authorised to issue plant passports by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA).

Being authorised to issue plant passports shows that the business has been officially inspected by the plant health authority. Should a plant health problem occur in the trade of passported plants the registration number included on the passport should allow for traceability from the place of origin of the plant.

The following details are included on all plant passport details:

  • 'UK' to show that the plants were grown in the UK or imported into the UK
  • 'EW' (this is the code for APHA applicable in England and Wales)
  • Our unique APHA registration number and an individual serial, week, batch or invoice number
  • The botanical name of the plant or plants
  • The quantity in the consignment
