Osteospermum ‘Tresco Purple’ is one of the best-known hardy varieties, and once planted in groups it creates an incredible display for months on end. We first discovered just how brilliant this plant is by accident — moving into a house with “Tresco” in the name and finding it absolutely thriving with almost no care at all.

This variety forms a neat, low, green mound with slightly red‑tinted stems and flowers that are a rich, vibrant purple with a lighter reverse. Each petal displays distinctive darker veins that draw the eye inwards towards a bold dark centre. It’s stunning both up close and from a distance.

‘Tresco Purple’ excels at the front of dry, sunny borders, gravel gardens, and especially tucked into dry stone walls, where it can creep, spill and trail softly — giving that effortless Cornish-coastal look.
